Stake Presidency Spotlight - President Munns

Over the next few weeks we will be featuring a stake presidency spotlights with some interesting facts you may not know about our stake presidency.

President Ryan Munns was born in Orlando, FL to Ranier and April Munns.  He grew up north of Orlando in the Longwood.  When asked what the highlights of his childhood were he said, "growing up with 12 brothers and sisters and lots of different animals, I enjoyed the suburban farm life.  I was an Eagle Scout and loved to play sports, especially volleyball and basketball."

Pres. Munns graduated from Lake Mary High School and served him mission in Geneva, Switzerland. He then attended college at Brigham Young University for his undergrad and law school education where he earned both his bachelor's degree and professional doctorate.  He is now an attorney at Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A.

Before being called as the stake president he served in the high council, a bishopric counselor, YM president, stake YM counselor, gospel doctrine teacher, and elders quorum president.

In 1996, he married his wife Heather in the Washington DC Temple.  They have 6 children and live in St. Cloud, FL.
(Maddie, Jamison, Caroline (back row), Lizzie, Heather, Ryan, Porter, Lillie)

His favorite scripture is Alma 29:1-4

1 O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!

2 Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth.

3 But behold, I am a man, and do sin in my wish; for I ought to be content with the things which the Lord hath allotted unto me.

4 I ought not to harrow up in my desires the firm decree of a just God, for I know that he granteth unto men according to their desire, whether it be unto death or unto life; yea, I know that he allotteth unto men, yea, decreeth unto them decrees which are unalterable, according to their wills, whether they be unto salvation or unto destruction.

Eagle Scout builds fence for a local church

On December 14, Madsen Senden completed his Eagle Scout Service Project by installing a parking lot fence for Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal Church, on Kentucky Ave in St. Cloud. The project consisted of removing an old and dilapidated fence, cleaning up the grounds, and constructing a new fence to divide the parking lot from the surrounding buildings.

The Eagle Scout Service Project is considered to be the most meaningful requirement to becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest rank. A scout is directed to "plan, develop and give leadership to others" in a service project deemed beneficial to a school, religious institution or community.

It took over 100 hours for Madsen to plan and organize the project.  He oversaw a crew of about 14 younger scouts. His father and other adults also helped. He was responsible for the construction design, collecting the materials, delegating responsibilities and discarding the old wooden fence.

When asked what he learned most from doing this project Madsen said, "It was incredible how much can be accomplished when you work together as a team. There was a lot more involved than just putting up a fence, the hours of planning and organizing sure paid off. I would still be there if it was not for the support of Troop 294. We came together as a troop."
